An inspiration, instantly realized

Originating around 1000 BCETo be precise, raden does not refer to a single type of shell but rather the craft of inlaying various types of biogenic gemstones into wooden lacquerware. Today, it is no longer limited to a few traditional freshwater shells. From New Zealand’s Haliotis and Japan’s Pinctada imbricata to Australia’s Pteria penguin and Polynesia’s Pinctada margaritifera, we are innovators of the raden technique. While preserving the excellence of traditional craftsmanship, we actively embrace and utilize the finest materials from around the world to provide our customers with perfect works of art.

At Graf Bobby’s Workshop, we merge artistry with cutting-edge technology through our Laser Raden Inlay System. As relentless innovators in bespoke penmaking, we’re redefining what’s possible by integrating advanced laser precision with time-honored material mastery.

We are craftsmen, but also collectors and devotees of late Romantic art. We immerse ourselves in uncovering leitmotifs in Wagner’s operas, passionately debate who truly deserves the crown as history’s greatest Verdi baritone, and lose ourselves in the intricate beauty of rose-cut diamonds and gold vermeil craftsmanship. We revere the legendary rock bands and films that defined the last century, and we swoon over the crisp white suits of the disco era.Yet, unsettled by the present, we channel our restlessness into creation—resisting the fragmented, dopamine-driven culture of instant gratification through distilled artistry. With tools in hand, we’ve built this modest workshop to forge ahead, to seek a future for these fading arts. If you share our passion, we urge you: email us your thoughts. Your ideas and creative spark will be preserved as part of this legacy.
