Red/Green Gem is a traditional lacquer art that combines transparent green urushi lacquer with silver powder.
The process begins with applying several initial layers of base lacquer. Fine silver powder is then dusted onto the surface, followed by additional coats of transparent green lacquer. This sequence is repeated multiple times after drying.
The final product showcases a metallic sheen from the silver powder and a green glow from the lacquer.
This technique can also be used with other colored lacquers, and the depth of polishing can be controlled to either reveal or conceal the silver powder layer.
