The Aka-Tamenuri pen gets its name from "Aka," meaning red, and "Tame," meaning lake. It’s coated with a lacquer that looks like lake water covering the pen. The color changes with light: it’s a deep purple-red without light, shows some red when slightly lit, and turns blood-red under direct light.
This effect comes from layering transparent and colored lacquers, similar to how lake water reflects different colors under sunlight, with deep and shallow areas.
The standard version features a polygonal barrel turned from solid ebony and hand-coated with Aka-Tamenuri lacquer. An Ebonite option is also available: the price is higher, but the grip section is included.
Customization and Shipping Customization takes about 3 months. Shipping usually takes 6–10 days and is DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), so there are no customs duties to handle.
